The fajitas (tough and dry) and tortillas (I got corn and flour) were not as good as in 2020 when I came here last. Don't think I will be back as often as I was thinking. Great service and friendly staff. There was an event and there was cigar/cigarette smoke in the restaurant, it was wafting all the way to the front patio through the restaurant doors (I have asthma and didn't bring my inhaler to a restaurant). Not very appetizing. Drinks, guac, and chips were very good. The sauce on the burrito was a little too sweet. The toasted coconut was a nice touch on the coconut margaritas. Maybe just drinks and chips next time. Too pricey for the quality. Definitely quantity over quality here.

Stopped in on a rainy day while checking out some antique stores in the area. It wasn’t too busy and we were seated very quickly. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Ordered the steak, chicken, and shrimp fajitas, as well as the Carnitas with flour tortillas. Fajitas came out hot and sizzling as expected, and the steak and chicken were very good but the shrimp, despite being big and well prepared, was a little lacking in flavor. The Carnitas was a tad tough on the outside, but still pulled apart fairly easily, and was good with the rice, beans, and guacamole provided. Ample flour tortillas were given and they were soft and delicious. The toreados ordered on the side were fantastic and so were the accompanying onions. The atmosphere is old world vibes, and although there was a lot of seating, we never felt like we were right on top of the other patrons.

A Delightful Mexican Dining Experience If you're looking for an authentic and memorable Mexican dining experience, look no further than El Adobe de Capistrano. This charming restaurant transports you to the heart of old San Juan Capistrano with its warm adobe walls, colorful decor, and lively ambiance. Let's start with the food, which is the main attraction. I opted for the vegan enchiladas, and I was thoroughly impressed. The enchiladas were bursting with flavor, featuring a delicious blend of vegetables and a rich, smoky sauce that left me craving more. My kids, on the other hand, devoured their quesadillas, which were perfectly grilled and oozing with melted cheese. But the dining experience at El Adobe de Capistrano goes beyond just the food. The restaurant boasts live music, which added a vibrant and festive atmosphere to our meal. The talented musicians serenaded us with traditional Mexican songs, transporting us to a lively cantina south of the border. One of the highlights of our visit was the opportunity to tour their haunted jail cell. Yes, you read that right! El Adobe de Capistrano is housed in a historic building that once served as a jail, and they've embraced this unique feature by offering tours of the eerie cell. It was a thrilling and spooky experience that added an extra layer of excitement to our evening. The service at El Adobe de Capistrano was also top-notch. Our server was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu, providing excellent recommendations and ensuring that our dining experience was truly exceptional. Overall, El Adobe de Capistrano is a must-visit destination for anyone seeking an authentic Mexican dining experience with a touch of history and entertainment. The delicious food, lively atmosphere, and unique attractions make it a standout choice in the area. ¡Salud!

My only complaint is the for a mobility challenged person, this is not a friendly place. Good table chips and salsa. Food was great, I had the Carnitas Michoacán. Generous serving of carnitas, good sides, loved the small serving of pickled onions, and 3 tortillas. Good, friendly service and the food was served very fast (

I must say, I love Mexican food and this was a HIT!! I love an Adobe building and this historical building met my expectations. Because the history is there, there is one toilet for the women, so don't wait. I had salsa and chips which were really good, spicy but not too hot and unlimited. My Mahi Mahi fish taco was 5⭐, really flavorful, just the right amount of every flavor and crunch and texture. I thought the rice was superior in flavor and texture and the beans complemented it nicely. After a walk around the historic area it was a nice lunch. Happy 🎊 New🎊 Year 2024
