Kind of a ho hum experience here on our first trip. I got the lobster roll, and my wife got the fish and chips. Both had a serious lack of seasoning. The lobster mac and cheese was quite tasty, though. The service was just okay. They were attentive but felt very rushed. Parking is an absolute nightmare. Give yourself plenty of time if you have reservations

A great seafood spot near the Newport Beach pier! We really enjoyed their steamers.. very very good and their fish n chips was a bit bland… I wish they added bit more salt to their fish or flavor but it did taste really fresh.

Well, we saw an ad on Instagram for Hook & Anchor and decided to give it a try. Reservations are tough! We got one at 5pm for early dinner because nothing was available til 8 or 9. And you have to put a credit card to hold the table.
Hard to find parking though even at 5. The parking lot was packed so we parked on the street instead.
We got a tall table because all the regular tables are taken. The place is very lively. Atmosphere is friendly and welcoming. We ordered claim chowder, sea food tower and lobster roll. There were only 2 of us so the sea food tower was kind of overwhelming in terms of quantity. It was so good though but it was a lot. The shrimps were so big and tasty. Oysters and lobster were as excellent. I think sea food tower should be for a party if 4.
The big killer is the lobster roll. It just melted in your mouth! Never tasted anything like this. So good.
Overall, an excellent seafood restaurant! They don't take AMEX though. We'll definitely be back with our friends and family.

Great spot to get some top notch seafood. We visited for happy hour and had an excellent experience. The oysters were fresh and delicious and on the happy hour menu. The Spanish octopus was an interesting take with chorizo and beans, but the lobster roll was the main attraction. Definitely drench it in the butter they serve which was used to poach the lobster. Looking forward to trying some more dishes here

Had a great Valentine's dinner here! We had a reservation and got immediately seated when we arrived. The bisque, lobster mac n' cheese, and lobster roll were all fantastic! We were craving seafood and this definitely hit the spot. Looking forward to coming back to try their other dishes!
