Our evening at Nobu in Newport Beach was truly remarkable. The restaurant's modern and inviting ambiance immediately set a positive tone. From the onset, the staff's warm welcome and attentiveness enhanced our dining experience. The menu offered a diverse selection, showcasing the chef's creativity and commitment to using high-quality ingredients. Our server, well-versed in the offerings, provided thoughtful recommendations tailored to our preferences. Their passion for the cuisine was evident, contributing to a personalized and enjoyable dining journey. While the pricing initially gave us pause, each dish justified its cost through unique presentations and exceptional flavors. The culinary creations were more than just meals; they were captivating experiences that lingered in our memories. The staff's attention to detail extended beyond the kitchen to the presentation of each dish. Each plate resembled a work of art, reflecting the fusion of traditional Japanese flavors with innovative techniques. The overall result was a symphony of tastes that delighted our palates. As we concluded our meal with desserts, which provided a satisfying and decadent finale to an evening filled with culinary delights. In retrospect, any initial concerns about pricing were overshadowed by the overall value and excellence of the dining experience at Nobu. Nobu in Newport Beach is not just a restaurant; it's a destination for those seeking an unforgettable culinary journey. The attention to detail, the fusion of flavors, and the exceptional service collectively earned Nobu a well-deserved 5-star rating in our estimation. We eagerly anticipate our next visit to savor more of what this extraordinary establishment has to offer. Don't forget to reserve well in advance !!

Nestled along the scenic shores of Newport Beach, Nobu proved to be an exquisite choice for my birthday soirée. Enveloped in an ambiance of unrivaled beauty, the restaurant's proximity to the tranquil waters added an ethereal charm to the evening. What truly elevated the experience, however, was the masterful craftsmanship of the sushi chef, who meticulously handcrafted each roll with unparalleled skill and dedication. With every bite, we were transported to a realm of culinary perfection, where flavors danced harmoniously on our palates. If only the rating scale allowed, Nobu would undoubtedly deserve six stars for an unforgettable dining experience that transcended mere satisfaction.

The food was amazing, as always, but the service and atmosphere are a disappointment. I love Nobu and have been to several around the world. This one doesn’t really feel like a nobu. We had a midday reservation on a weekend. There was no valet, which is fine, but maybe communicate that because we waited for someone to show up for ten minutes before self-parking (which is not easy on the peninsula!). The downstairs is all lounge/walk-ins and the upstairs is the dining room. It’s a nice restaurant, but it doesn’t feel Nobu special. The dining room is very open with a nice wraparound patio for outdoor dining. The view is of the harbor. The sun hits kind of hard throughout the day and there are no shades, so bring a hat/sunglasses. The service was not great. Very casual, kind of rushed, and not attentive. We ordered drinks and had to wait 30 minutes, only after asking where they were did they finally get delivered. The waiter blamed the bar, but it wasn’t even very crowded, so…? Then we got the crispy okra and it came out obviously charred/super burnt (so quality control may be lacking). The rest of the meal was perfection - everything tasted great, but the casual/lacking service kind of ruined it.

Finally tried Nobu for the first time and overall I was extremely impressed! To be candid, I was expecting to pay for overpriced sushi with mediocre taste/quality (which is more prevalent with LA restaurants), but was instead thoroughly impressed with the flavors and overall dining experience. Food: For starters we ordered the Yellowtail Crudo, Crispy Rice with Spicy Tuna, and edamame. For mains we ordered the Black Cod with Miso, Rock Shrimp Tempura with Creamy Spicy, Ponzu, Prime Ribeye with Truffle Butter, as well as a few additional sashimi and cut maki rolls. For the appetizers, the Yellowtail was exceptionally fresh and buttery. The Crispy Rice with Spicy Tuna was just okay; the crispy rice may have been overly cooked and didn't really stand out IMO. As for the mains, the Black Cod with Miso was impeccably cooked! It was robust with umami flavor without being overly salty, buttery and flaky, and hit all of the right flavor palettes. I would definitely order this again. Drinks: For drinks, I ordered the Lychee Elderflower Martini and that was fantastic. I typically don't enjoy "Lychee" flavored cocktails as it tends to lean more sugary and overly sweet, however, this was made extremely well and was very well-balanced. Service: Service was amazing! Our server and all of the staff members were extremely attentive, kind, and informative. I went up to use the restroom and quickly asked a random server where the restroom was; he was already holding a platter of dirty dishes to bring back to the kitchen, and said he would show me to the restroom but I kindly said he really didn't need to (because his hands were clearly full) although he insisted and literally walked me towards the direction of the restroom while carrying a plate of dirty dishes, which he didn't need to do so that was extremely kind of him. Ambiance: It's right by the water/harbor and although it was already night time, the view was still incredible and the ambiance was moody and dim, perfect for a date night or dinner with friends.

I have dined at various Nobu restaurants from the east to west coast and have always been impressed with the food and level of service however Nobu Newport did not live up to the quality and standards that is synonymous with the name Nobu. Our waiter was cold and uninformed about the menu. Their wine selection was limited that night and we had to change our seats several times. Because I love Nobu I will continue to support the brand but I will stay clear from the Newport location. If you can call a month in advance and make reservations at the Malibu location
