The Best Mexican Restaurant in San Juan Capistrano
Our dream began in late 2014, long before we became the “Best Mexican Restaurant in San Juan Capistrano”. It began inside a 17- foot food truck with the burning desire to change the way guests perceived food truck cuisine to be we have always believed that mexican food should be MORE! More complex, modern, enjoyable and healthier for our bodies.
We are delighted to introduce our new partners Maiz Cocina Group, who like us started as a food truck and share our vision and dreams. We are excited for our future and can’t wait to see what GOD has in store for us

Not crowded when I was there. Friendly staff. Food was 5 out of 5 for taste. Just incredible. Highly recommend. I don’t write reviews very often but this deserved my time.
Service was brilliant and food was incredible. The 'tacos del mar' are just unreal. Definitely recommend!
Delicious food, atmosphere and service was impeccable!!! Best Mexican food I've ever had! The Civeche was fanominal! The Chile Verde was fantastic and enjoyed by several of our party! The churros and ice cream brought back memeories of homemade ice cream from childhood...We will definitely be visiting Sol Agave for many years to come.
Initially, I felt underdressed for Sol Agave. It seemed more of a date spot than a family spot, but the restaurant never made me feel out of place. The staff was personable, welcoming and helpful with their recommendations. We ordered their guacamole sampler which consisted of classic guacamole, lobster and carnitas. Out of the 3, we most enjoyed the carnitas guacamole; it was very flavorful. Our waiter recommended their “famous carnitas” so we ordered that along with their enchiladas de langosta. My daughter had their kids New York steak. The carnitas were well seasoned, but we thought it was a little dry. The enchilada had copious amounts of langosta and the sauce didn’t overpower the dish. The side of beans were delicious, but I did wished that the rice was more “Mexican style” instead of just steamed. The New York steak was perfectly cooked. For dessert, we had the butter cake which wasn’t what I expected. It was more crumbly than spongy. The flavors of every component was quite good though. I ordered their margarita flight, of course! The flavors were tamarind, spicy mango, cucumber cilantro and watermelon basil. They were all tasty, but I most enjoyed tamarind and spicy mango. Lastly, we ordered a sipping of tequila, mandala reposado. It was really good and it drank quite smooth. Overall, we would definitely come back to try their other menu items. Total cost for this visit was about $260 with tip.
I really wanted to like the Bacon Wrapped Jalapeños but they were way too spicy, like unbearable. The flavors would have been good if it wasn’t so spicy. Otherwise the Grilled Salmon salad was perfectly sweet & refreshing with the watermelon & basil margarita.
